Most individuals come to work for salary, benefits and similar necessities, but there are other, subtle motivators as well.

**Know how much leadership to offer and how much to let the individuals grow on their own.

** Strike the right balance between specific and generic guidance so the unique individual traits of the workers come through in the business model and solutions to problems and success of the firm are derived from the people running the enterprise and not only from you. An excellent leader will be sensitive to this concept.

** Manage constructively by fostering an environment respectful of all points of view but lead by driving to fulfilling progressive objectives as a first priority and blend differences of opinion decisively. Communicate the results of decisions objectively and thoroughly so employees understand the rationale for them.

  1. Hire the right people It all begins with hiring the right person for the right position. Job descriptions should be comprehensive and updated frequently. 2. Show them opportunities If employees feel as though they have hit a wall or don’t see a future within the company, they will look for better opportunities elsewhere. 3. Offer them benefits Companies that offer the most benefits to their employees are more likely to keep them. Many surveys reveal that health benefits are most important, followed by retirement funds. 4. Manage with trust If employees trust that a company is moving in the right direction, they are less likely to leave. Open communication is essential to build that trust and will cultivate a sense of ownership throughout a company. 5. Create a great work environment A work environment that makes people feel included and celebrates diversity will encourage employees to stay. Shared workspaces are becoming popular, replacing the gray, permanent cubicles of the past and collaboration is the name of the game.
