My professional background
I have actually been in business for over 30 years, on and off, but worked in my own company for the last 25.
My background is primarily IT consulting, (primarily support) but later ventured into real estate and working with huge developments.
I gained a few years experience owning a hair salon (as an investment, not hairdresser) and have gained a lot of insight in the hairdressing business as well.
I have a lot of experience with employing staff, including managing over 25 employees, dealing with HR and employment law issues as well as Health & Safety regulations.
Currently I have business coaching/advice service, using a holistic approach in order to give the entrepreneur the best opportunity to succeed, especially when starting out.
Business success is about the right mindset, primarily, followed by perseverance and the ability to continue under adverse conditions. Of course all this is possible by being surrounded with the correct advisers as it's impossible to do it all alone.
While the "mechanics" of starting/running a business are pretty much standard and easily found with little research, it is the mindset training that I focus on (as well as the mechanics) that I excel in.
Aside all the above, I also focus on business strategies and the many "outside the box" solutions most people don't think of (or even teach), to achieve the most out of your business, spending the least amount, especially if you've got financial constraints.
Always happy to be of service, so please feel free to ask me anything, no matter how simple or complicated a problem.
How to work with me
What I can offer
The start of 2021 has given rise to many more entrepreneurs asking me for help, and as you can imagine, I cannot give help to everyone as I need to focus primarily on my private clients first – and they are many that are willing to pay and those take up most of my time.
To this extent, please know that I will not be able to answer everyone, therefore will limit my availability to as and when I can dedicate some spare time, using some criteria for selection.
Most people that ask me for help have shown that they’re not really an entrepreneur, but rather, are applying for help like they would for a job: not reading the whole of my profile in the only hope that they get contacted because they’ve asked for help.
That’s not how I work and it won’t happen with me as you’ll just be ignored.
For such people that can’t be bothered to at least read in whole, I suggest to continue looking for work as being an entrepreneur is VERY difficult and NOT for everyone and like most, will end up failing – it’s just a fact of life I’m afraid.
Moving on then…
To be selected for mentorship you need to have some prerequisites, therefore unless you’ve shown that you are committed and can be coachable, but also have a viable plan, you will not be chosen. And no, it’s not enough to say that you are – that’s an assessment that only I can do, based on following a few simple directions.
Those that dream of being the best in their field and the most sought-after or anything like that (and I do get many!) are just… dreaming.
While you should always aim high, it’s important to also be humble and grounded. No need to let me know your goal is to be the biggest or best or anything else as that’s not going to impress anyone I’m afraid – least of all me.
Be aware that for the 99% that ask me for help, will never be chosen because they’ve not even read this part of my profile - therefore if you can’t be bothered to spend the time to read about me, I won’t spend any time with you.
These individuals are the same ones that will have a standard message where they say that they’ve read my profile and were so impressed that they just had to contact me, then go on to the next mentor and copy/paste the same message in the hope that at least one will respond. Sadly nobody will respond and you’re only wasting your time.
I’ve caught on to that sort of SPAMMING technique and will simply delete them – so be aware that no real effort = no response.
Please keep in mind that startups require a lot of my time and as a consequence I can only focus on those very few businesses that show a potential – again, NOT reading this section, will definitely and automatically exclude you without any notice.
I ALSO require you to have a Business Plan ready (doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be done) and before I can dedicate any time, I need to see that first.
If you make this effort, then I will contact you and give you my thoughts and will take it from there – but still no guarantee that I will spend further time, until you can show me that you’ve got what it takes.
Be sure to include what you have done so far to resolve any challenges and what you think the solution is, but can't implement it because you don’t know how. Please include all reasons that you say you are stuck as this will help me understand the fundamental problem.
Also note that “lack of money” is not a good enough excuse on its own, so you’ll need to be more specific and let me know how you’ve tried to raise the necessary funds, but also let me know of other ways you can raise money, but don’t know how to go forward.
Lastly, I get mentees that write to me in languages other than English – so please know that I will NOT try to use a translator, even if you have met all other requirements. Working this way (with a translator) is very difficult and wastes too much time for me, and I’m not using all this time for free for… nothing – that’s just how I do things – sorry.
If you can't do any of the above or don't read this notice, don't be surprised if I don't answer.
Thank you for your cooperation and hope you understand the reasons I have to operate this way: it’s in your best interest.
I will look forward to working with the 1% that can show they’ve got what it takes - by at least reading my profile – if that’s asking too much, then you know already what I think your future will be and I will simply not be working with you.
Having said all that above, I also want you to know that being successful is not that hard – it’s a matter of wanting to do what it takes and never giving up. As I said, 99% of those I meet here will never be selected, and it’s not because they couldn’t be successful, but because they don’t even TRY!
Success is just a state of mind and it’s simply up to you to decide that and nobody else can do it for you – seriously, it’s really THAT simple.
Wishing all of you a successful and productive year ahead!
My expectations for a successful mentoring relationship
As long as you've read the above and qualify for my help, you'll then need to implement the recommendations and commit to make changes for improvement.
How entrepreneurs can prepare before we start
First of all, READ my full profile - that's rule number 1 - then, be clear about what you want to achieve and realistic about your expectations. Believe that as long as you're committed to your dream, the solutions will follow, even if you don't know the next step to take.
