What I need help with

My background as an entrepreneur

My current challenges

In the endeavor to establish Ighan, a training and media hub nestled in the vibrant heart of Benin City, several challenges come into focus.

The initial setup demands meticulous planning, from acquiring the right resources to setting up the infrastructure. The diverse fields of expertise we aim to cover - animation, VFX, web design, and more - require a pool of skilled instructors.

Funding looms as a significant hurdle, with substantial costs expected for facility setup, equipment procurement, and hiring qualified staff. Standing out in a market that’s filled with subpar institutions and maybe being judged by their standards while providing exceptional education is a perpetual challenge.

Negotiating international collaborations and franchising opportunities adds a layer of complexity. Adapting swiftly to the fast-evolving tech landscape is paramount. Attracting and retaining students, complying with regulations, and ensuring top-notch facilities further heighten the journey's demands.

Yet, within each challenge lies an opportunity to learn, grow, and innovate.

Actions I’ve taken so far

I'm currently in the process of registering the company with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Once this milestone is achieved, I'll initiate the fundraising process. While I have a potential site in mind, it hasn't been secured yet. Beginning January 2024, I'll diligently work on ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.

My future goals

The future of the company envisions a dynamic and globally renowned training and media hub. This involves expanding beyond the boundaries of Benin City, potentially establishing centers or franchise across Nigeria, West Africa and the entire Africa.

The curriculum will be a cornerstone, continuously evolving to stay ahead of industry trends. The goal is to cater to a diverse range of creative and technical disciplines, ensuring graduates are equipped with cutting-edge skills.

Employment opportunities will play a pivotal role. The company aims to be a reliable source of jobs for its graduates, offering them a platform to apply their newfound skills and further develop their expertise.

Leadership in the industry is paramount. The company will strive to be at the forefront of advancements in 3D animation, VFX, gaming design, web development, and other domains within the computer and information technology sector.

Collaborations and partnerships will be forged with established institutions, industry experts, and leading companies to enhance the quality of education and open up more avenues for students.

Community impact is a key consideration. The company aims to contribute positively to the local community by providing valuable skills, generating employment, and potentially initiating related community development projects.

Adaptability and innovation are vital. The company will stay agile and innovative, adapting to emerging technologies and educational methodologies to ensure the training provided remains relevant and effective.

Compliance and ethical standards will underpin all operations and dealings, upholding the highest levels of professionalism and integrity.

Brand recognition is a priority. The company aspires to be a recognized and respected name in the field, synonymous with quality education, innovation, and excellence.

Social responsibility will be a guiding principle. The company recognizes the societal impact of its venture and aims to actively participate in initiatives that contribute to the welfare and development of the broader community.

Financial sustainability is imperative. The company will ensure it remains financially robust, enabling continued growth, expansion, and the realization of its broader goals.

Through these objectives, the company aims not only to thrive locally but also to make a meaningful impact on the global stage.

My motivations to work with a mentor

In the venture I've envisioned with Ighan, the fusion of technology, design, and education holds immense promise. However, I am acutely aware that navigating this dynamic landscape requires more than just passion. It calls for wisdom, insights, and a seasoned perspective. This realization is what fuels my quest for a mentor.

I understand the profound impact mentorship can have on refining a vision and charting a course towards success. The right mentorship can steer me clear of potential pitfalls, provide strategic guidance, and offer the kind of expertise that only comes from years of experience.

As I embark on this journey, the prospect of collaborating with a mentor is profoundly motivating. The achievements and expertise in this field are not only inspiring but emblematic of the heights that can be scaled with the right guidance.

Mentors usually have a seasoned eye for the intricacies of this industry could be the key to refining our curriculum, ensuring it is in perfect sync with industry demands. The network and connections could open doors to partnerships and collaborations that would propel Ighan to international acclaim.

Moreover, a mentor would have an unbiased evaluation and this could be the reality-check I need to keep Ighan's goals firmly on course. The ability to see beyond the immediate challenges and envision the broader scope of success is a quality I will deeply respect.

In essence, the prospect of having a mentor is a source of immense motivation. The guidance I seek would not only shape Ighan's journey but also serve as a beacon of wisdom for me personally.

About my venture

Ighan Ventures

Ighan, derived from 'Ighanowon' meaning the feather of an eagle, is envisioned as a comprehensive training and media hub nestled in the vibrant city of Benin. Our mission is to empower students in diverse creative fields, including 3D animation, VFX, gaming design, web and interior design, graphic design, video editing, photography, videography, and marketing. With the goal of fostering self-sufficiency, we plan to establish independent businesses in each sector, while also providing employment opportunities for the most accomplished graduates. This endeavor not only promotes skill development but addresses the prevalent issue of job scarcity faced by many Nigerian graduates. Additionally, Ighan aims to forge international partnerships by exploring the possibility of franchising from esteemed training institutes in countries like India, the US, Canada, and the UK, further enriching the learning experience for our students. Given the dynamic nature of our offerings, we couldn't confine ourselves to a single industry label. Instead, we've found our niche in the realm of computer and information technology, where innovation and creativity converge.
